The Outer Banks gospel group, “The Captain’s Crew” has released their latest CD. The group has worked on the album for almost a year and it is their first release since the popular Tenderly Calling CD with Grand Ole Opry Star, George Hamilton IV, in 2008. Unlike “Tenderly Calling” which was a collection of hymns all written by Fanny Crosby, almost half of the 13 songs on this new CD were written by members of the group.

The CD is getting great reviews from around the world. Paul Davis with New Christian Music in England said, “ Wow! What a great inspiration album of new-and-old favorites from The Captain’s Crew who make no apology for amply injecting personally edifying and sentimental gospel messages into their North Carolina repertoire. Let's hope there's more such story-balladeering to come.” Davis went on to say, “It is a good keepsake album for folk-country fans, showcasing the group’s impressive songwriters plus other notables such as George Hamilton V, Joel Hemphill, Ronnie Hinson, Margo Smith, and Don Moen. Clear-voiced, the group’s natural vocal-giftings blend well on this impressive studio session of close-harmony country-gospel contemplations.”

In a review in the Virginian Pilot Frank Roberts wrote: “"The Captain's Crew" by The Captain's Crew has all the class and professionalism that you might expect from a major studio release - no small town small potatoes stuff. If you want to add to your gospel collection, you can't do better than joining The Captain's Crew,"

The album was recorded at the Coastal Production Company “Life Saving Station” studio in Wanchese, Martin Parker’s studio in Edenton, and at Crossroads Music studio in Arden North Carolina. The final mix down was also done at Crossroads. Joining the Captain’s Crew musicians were a number of the top studio musicans in Southern Gospel Music including Martin Parker, drummer with Vince Gill for 15 years, David Johnson, the Gospel Music Association’s studio musician of the year and Jeff Collins from Crossroads music, who has played on several Dove and Grammy Award winning recordings.
